My
suggestion for elimination is ‘Economic Value of Entity ‘(EVE) which
requires banks to do a lot of work marking assets to current value, totally
ignores the value of deposits, and supposedly gives us warning of future
trouble. I myself have come to believe it is a total waste of time. I’ve
asked many bankers how they use it. All have said they don’t. I’ve
encountered one examiner who thought it was valuable but couldn’t explain
why. And I’ve met several examiners who don’t seem to support it but do
still require that we prepare it.
Perhaps I just don’t understand it? In truth though, I think this one you
could do away with.
